Also known as "Valle de la Luna" (Moon Valley), this spot constitutes one of the major tourist attractions in San Juan and in Argentina, as well. The valley is 150 km2 and it is of both archeological and paleontological value. The rocky area dates back to 225 million years ago, making it a desired object for scientific research. This is why scientists from different parts of the world are lured to this extraordinary place to investigate its unique features. For all this, in November 2000, UNESCO declared the area to be of mankind patrimony. |
