  Calingasta  
 
Located at 1500 meters above sea level, the viewer will find an extraordinary landscape where streams, rivers, valleys and mountains merge with the vast vegetation providing a suitable home for hundreds of animals. There are many places to visit, among which is necessary to mention “El Alcazar", a rock formation of curious shapes and nuances of colors craftily molded by the wind.

  Barreal  
 
Being so close to the Andes Mountain Range, this is the main tourist attraction of the west of San Juan. There are several hotels to choose from and different outdoor activities to engage in while you are here: fishing, horse-back riding, motor–racing or rock climbing.

  El Leoncito plains  
 
This white flat clayey surface is now the remains of an old basin. The length of the area is of 14 km and it is of 4 km in width. It is predominantly windy what sets things in motion for wind-car racing. This is a sport in which no engines of any kind are involved; cars literally run with the wind reaching levels of high speed over 135 km/h.

  El Leoncito Astronomic Complex  
 
With an extension of 76.000 hectares, this privileged scenery provides the tourist with a clear bright sky suitable for observing the stars. The observatory is located at 2.552 meters above sea level and it is equipped with a high-tech astronomic telescope. The “Carlos Cesco" Astral Station is considered to be one of the major stations of the southern hemisphere on account of its complex technical structure.
